Docs Table of Contents

You can see your document structure with a table of contents. Each item in the table of contents links to your document headings or title. The following are the choices presented on the toolbar dropdown and would be captured by the table of contents.

  • Title
  • Subtitle
  • Heading 2
  • Heading 3
  • Heading 4
  • Heading 5
  • Heading 6

Add Table of Contents

  1. On your computer, open a document in Google Docs.
  2. Click where you want the table of contents.
  3. Click Insert and then Table of contents.
  4. Choose how you want the table of contents to look.

To delete it, right-click and click Delete table of contents.

Edit Table of Contents

  1. On your computer, open a document in Google Docs.
  2. Add a heading in your document.
  3. Click Refresh. The change will update in your table of contents.
